What is a yacht charter preference sheet, and how detailed should it be?

A yacht charter preference sheet is the questionnaire the crew uses to provision and plan the week around the guests, and it should be as detailed as a hotel concierge would want: more, not less. It arrives from the broker a few weeks after booking and covers food and drink (allergies, diets, favorite breakfast, wine and spirits by brand), activities (snorkeling, fishing, diving certifications, toys), pace (lazy anchorages or a new island daily), celebrations, sleep habits, and how much crew interaction the group wants. Vague answers cost money. A sheet that says “we like wine” produces a mixed case; one that names a Sancerre and a Napa cab produces the right bottles and less unspent APA to argue over. Fill it in per guest, not per group, and send it back early so the chef can source specialty items before the yacht leaves the dock. The first-time charterer’s guide walks through the whole pre-charter paperwork.
