What happens to my deposit if a yacht charter company goes out of business?

If a yacht charter company goes out of business before your trip, what happens to your deposit depends on who is holding it, and under standard charter contracts, that is a stakeholder broker, not the company that failed. MYBA and CYBA terms release nothing to the yacht’s owner until the charter begins, so a collapse between booking and departure hits a business that never had your cash. Prepaid jet cards and travel clubs work the other way around: they hold large balances against future trips, and customers have been frozen out when cash flow failed. A charter carries no such balance. One payment, one yacht, fixed dates. For extra cover, pay installments by credit card where accepted and carry travel insurance with supplier-failure protection. The MYBA contract guide breaks down when each installment actually moves.
