Jet skis on a Caribbean yacht charter depend entirely on which waters the yacht is in: they are banned outright in the British Virgin Islands and St. Vincent & the Grenadines, allowed with restrictions in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Bahamas, and licence-only in the French islands. The BVI rule is strict. Any personal watercraft aboard must be declared to customs and stay stowed for the whole cruise, and drifting one across from St. John counts. In the USVI, jet skis are legal outside Virgin Islands National Park, which wraps most of St. John, so guests ride them off St. Thomas or in open water instead. The Exumas allow them at idle speed inside mooring fields and anchorages and at least 300 yards from any anchored boat. Around St. Barts and the French side of St. Martin, drivers need a boating licence, so many crews limit jet-ski time to a licensed crew member driving.
