What is freediving?
Freediving is diving underwater on a single breath, with no scuba tank. A freediver takes one big breath at the surface and descends on it, relying on relaxation and technique rather than gear. Depths range from a few feet of reef to competitive dives past 100. The appeal is quiet and weightless — no bubbles, no noise, just the diver and the water. It has grown fast as a wellness and adventure pursuit, tied to breath control and calm under pressure. Warm, clear tropical water is the easiest place to start, where a beginner can drift over coral at 15 or 20 feet. The one rule that never bends: never freedive alone. See what to expect on a charter.
