Mark Sperber
Born and raised in St. Croix, Captain Mark Sperber’s life has always been deeply connected to the sea. From a young age, he discovered his passion for navigating the Caribbean’s pristine waters, spending his childhood racing mono and multihull vessels. This love for the ocean led him to found a water sports company on the island, which continues to thrive to this day.
Mark’s career has been as diverse as it is inspiring. After years of serving as a private yacht captain in the Bahamas, he played a pivotal role in the Deepwater Horizon recovery efforts, working with the largest subcontractor for oil spill cleanup in the Gulf. He later returned to his adventurous roots by owning and operating the renowned 63-foot racing catamaran, Jolly Mon, offering unforgettable day charters around the British and U.S. Virgin Islands.
When Hurricane Maria struck, Mark knew it was time to come home. Back in St. Croix, he’s found immense joy in sharing his love of the sea with guests aboard Qara. His warm personality, unmatched maritime expertise, and deep pride in his island heritage make him not just a skilled captain but an unforgettable host. Whether he’s charting a course to a hidden Caribbean gem or sharing stories of his adventures, Captain Mark’s goal is simple: to ensure every guest leaves with a smile and a lasting memory.
