The experience:
Our trip on Alize with Carlos and Maribel was our first experience island hopping on a crewed charter boat and  we fell in love with it.  Sailing to the destination island in the morning after breakfast, mooring in a protected cove or bay, exploring the island’s beach and attractions during the day, returning to our boat in the late afternoon to lounge or enjoy the water, having dinner on our boat, and then lounging until bedtime with fantastic sunsets, and beautiful island scenery.  Then doing it again the next day with a different island, different beach, different attractions.  Even though the boat is typically one of many (15-20?  I never counted, honestly) moored in a given location, it’s still a very private-feeling environment and vibe.  While of course there’s no controlling the behavior of others, in general, there seemed to be a common respect and consideration that resulted in mostly very peaceful evenings and nights.  It’s an experience we didn’t know existed, but we’re so glad to have found out and we’re definitely looking forward to doing it again.

The boat:
The Alize itself was roomy, super clean, and really comfortable.  Sitting in the front lounge area while sailing was so relaxing and just a great way to take in the scenery.  The aft lounge area and deck was great for meals and hanging out in the evenings with our friends after a day of activity. When it was time to turn in, the cabins were cooled to perfect sleeping temperature and the beds were totally comfy and roomy.  

The hosts/crew:
The islands, the water, and their attractions are there regardless of who is taking care of you.  But the crew is the key to getting the most out of the experience.  Carlos and Maribel are not only experts at captaining and managing yachts, but they have the experience in the BVIs to be able to craft the best itinerary for what you want to do.  They have the connections and knowledge that facilitate getting the best provisions, being in the desired locations at the best possible times (for example, visiting popular attractions when there’s no cruise ship in port), and other intangibles you may never even be aware of that make the experience better.  Knowing what we were interested in doing, Carlos put together an itinerary that maximized our ability to do those things and give us the most privacy possible.  So many times on our trip, crowds showed up only after we’d had a few hours completely to ourselves.  We had several virtual private island experiences simply because of smart planning.  And on the boat the vibe was comfortable, everything was clean and functional, and it was so easy to relax and just enjoy the scenery and peacefulness of being moored in a beautiful cove or bay for the night.  Maribel is a professionally trained chef and all the food was fantastic.  Not having to shop, cook, and clean while on vacation is a treat.  Having such high quality meals served to you is another level of luxury.  Knowing you’re in good hands in all aspects of the trip really allows you to enjoy the experience to the fullest, stress-free, and completely satisfied with your decision to charter a yacht in the BVIs.

We would sail with Carlos and Maribel on Alize again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone.

We have been dreaming of a catamaran vacation for years. Thank you for bringing that dream to life. Each stop held something unique and special for us to discover. Avery, our eight year old, loved every minute of snorkeling and being in the water. Fiona, our thirteen year old, is harder to please, but she found home relaxing, reading, and some spa pampering at Scrub Island. My wife, fell in love with Savannah Bay. We could have spent a week there alone. As for me, I loved the quiet mornings with coffee and my Bible, as well as stargazing on the trampolines at night with the cool air surrounding me. Watching my daughters experience so many firsts truly made this a trip of a lifetime.

From anchoring at Long Bay, V.G. and discovering lobsters, turtles, and beautiful marine life, to showing us the breathtaking beauty of Mahoe Bay and Savannah Bay. Diamond reef was also incredible. We had not seen a reef so alive like that in along time. We saw large schools of Tangs, Parrot fish and amazing purple fans.

Allergy friendly cooking is not an easy feat, but was greatly appreciated and Grace always felt safe.

We tackled a lot this week. The weather was perfect and it was a lovely, much-needed respite!
The crew was absolutely delightful. Captain Fraser was an excellent captain who showed us many beautiful beaches and snorkeling spots. He found a perfect windy spot for Kenny to kite-board, twice. 
Olivia was an excellent cook with a lovely demeanor and Jess was very accommodating and so sweet. They were sweet enough to make a reservation for Kenny and I to dine at one of the restaurants while the kids stayed on the boat and had a blast playing board-games with the crew. The boat was very clean and comfortable. 
We have only glowing things to say about our experience on Awatea.

The restaurant-quality meals from that tiny galley are nothing short of amazing-crispy chicken on a boat is seriously impressive. All of the spots we visited were great, but the highlight for us all was the empty resort at Ocean’s Seven, with our private snorkeling reef. It’s hard to imagine anyone taking more care to find us places that were perfect for us. Every detail was well thought and made for a really meaningful family vacation. Even in the midst of changing weather and “Christmas in July” we had the quiet sea-focused week we all wanted. And thank you for being inspiringly interesting, quiet, relaxed people. You two made us feel right at home on the boat, which is saying a lot since most of us had never even slept on a boat before. What a wonderful adventure for our family!
This was our first sailing trip and we absolutely loved it. Carlos and Maribel were wonderful hosts and made our trip stress and worry free. The destinations were all beautiful and fun-filled, and the food was superb! Maribel is so talented!

This was our fourth week-long catamaran trip in the BVI plus many day excursions for snorkeling, and even though we had snorkeled all the best spots, Carlos surprised us with phenomenal spots we had never snorkeled before! One spot seemed like it was in the middle of the ocean but had beautiful reefs! We loved it! Maribel’s culinary skills were also phenomenal! Never had we had such delicious , well presented meals with such a wonderful variety! Every day we looked forward to her meals. She shared tips and was so much fun! Thank you for sharing your home with us. Despite the rainy weather we had a wonderful trip and experienced new places in the BVI. Both Carlos and Maribel take great pride in their boat and skills and it shows! We are sad it’s ending.

We had an absolutely delightful cruise on ALIZE with Carlos and Maribel. We enjoyed sailing to all the different moorings to explore the shore offerings and water fun. Our favorite was Virgin Gorda. The red flag at The Baths turned out to be a blessing when we got a special tour of the island and still got to the Baths via land instead. And Maribel’s food! Each time Carlos delivered plates we all gasped at the beautiful presentation and then raved about the flavors and variety.
We were here 17 years ago and it is just as magical now as it was then. Great vacation! Very relaxing.

We feel so fortunate to not only have sailed the BVI , but to do it on ALIZE, profited by your experience and hospitality! We greatly appreciate your experience in offering charters for years prior to our arrival. The things we had planned in our heads did not compare to your suggestions. Plus, as a worry-wart, Becky was never nervous for one second, knowing we were in great hands.
The food…Oh the food! Maribel, you spoiled us with meals we have never seen, much less tasted. They not only were delicious, but beautiful also. We were delighted to have this as a culinary vacation.!

Wow… what an amazing vacation! Thank you for welcoming us into your beautiful home and for coordinating such an incredible experience for us. From sailing to snorkeling, from each location to every extraordinary meal, we had the best time. Scott loved being on a boat again and paddle-boarding for the first time. For us sisters, it was great to simply be together here, especially sitting up top with both of you while we sailed. If anyone needs lessons about using the dinghy ladder, Claire is always available.

Dear Carlos and Maribel,
For so many reasons over this past year we thought this trip was not going to happen. We are so thrilled that it did!! We loved being onboard ALIZE. Your insights on the islands, activities and itinerary were invaluable. Our time aboard ALIZE will be remembered for the evening sunsets & breezes, “Caribbean showers”, great conversation, a lot of fun activities, wonderful cocktails and THE FOOD!! We have always felt that our travel has given us many gifts… The people we meet along the way are definitely one of those gifts- we will remember fondly our time spent with both of you! Carlos is the most patient, calm and kind person. He showed the kids how to use all the water toys on board and they had so much fun!
Maribel is the best chef you can have on a charter. She treated us to some exquisite deserts, succulent steaks and the freshest salads. The bar on cooking was set very high.

As you found out, even though Carlos suspected it, I was hesitant to come to the BVI since I had never done anything like this before and was nervous about how I would fit in. Your gracious hospitality and reassuring calmness put me right at ease and truly this was a wonderful experience that I would like to do again. Probably my most fond memory will be getting to know the both of you, hearing of some of your grand adventures and traveling insights. 
Thank you for making our “mid-pandemic” charter the best it could be. The service was top notch, the food was five stars and outstanding and the company most enjoyable.

Dear Maribel and Carlos,

What a marvelous trip this has been! I really had no idea what to expect. This trip was planned as a celebration of my 50th birthday and I wasn’t in the loop, so to speak. Add to that all the ever changing Covid regulations and I was not enthusiastic. 
That being said…
Once I was on the ALIZE, in your capable hands, I was at HOME. The anxiety and apprehension…GONE!!
I was completely relaxed and my attitude shifted immediately. Thank you both so much for allowing us to share your home for these eight days. I was not disappointed about not being able to go on land due to the late Covid test results. I really am happiest when I’m with my sister. She’s my best friend. So I would have to say the whole trip was a SUCCESS!! We loved your cooking, Maribel. Every meal was a triumph! Carlos, your stories: so fabulous. Thank you for a safe and memorable experience. The BVI is beautiful but a trip with you two, even on swamp, would be worth it! I hope this is the first of several trips together.
