How does a yacht charter broker get paid?

Yacht charter brokers get paid by the yacht owner, not the guest — a 15% commission on the base fee, baked into the price every yacht quotes. The fee structure is standardized across MYBA-member brokers, so the same yacht costs the same whether the guest books through Vital, Camper & Nicholsons, Burgess, or any other reputable broker. Going direct to a yacht owner won’t save the 15% — the owner pays it anyway as a commercial cost, and brokered prices match the owner’s direct rate. What the broker does for that 15%: matches the guest to the right yacht, negotiates terms, handles the MYBA contract, runs the escrow account, manages the captain relationship, and steps in on any operational issue mid-charter. How charter brokers work covers the model.
