Which Caribbean islands are dog-friendly?
The most dog-friendly Caribbean islands are the US Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, St. Martin, and Anguilla. The USVI takes US-domestic pet rules β no import permit, just a current rabies certificate. The Bahamas requires a 48-hour-notice import permit and a vet certificate within 48 hours of arrival. St. Martin and Anguilla follow EU pet passport norms (microchip, rabies, tapeworm). The BVI is harder β long quarantine paperwork that doesn’t fit a yacht charter calendar. Turks and Caicos and Cayman are similarly restrictive. On a Caribbean yacht charter, the dog stays aboard or comes ashore at owner discretion; crews accommodate water bowls, shaded deck zones, and beach landings where permitted. The pet-friendly yacht guide covers permit specifics by island.
